My passion for well-being has led me to explore the realms of self-care, unearthing five unwavering principles that I consider fundamental for attaining and upholding a state of complete harmony. So, clutch your nourishing green smoothie as we set forth on this expedition toward optimal well-being together!

  1. Nourish with Wholesome Foods: We all know that old saying, “You are what you eat.” Well, it couldn’t be truer! Nourishing your body with nutrient-dense, whole foods is the cornerstone of any wellness routine. I’m personally not a fan of meal prepping concrete meals because every day I like to eat new things or it’s very unpredictable for what I want to eat the day of. Planning specific things to pre-make in containers like chicken in one container, rice in another and steamed veggies is something that I tend to do. BUT! I do need to mention this, snacks make the world go round and round. Listening to your body when you need something to carry you over to lunch or something to satisfy your craving is okay! My favorite sweet snacks are Mid-Day squares and my favorite salty snacks are green pea crispers.
  2. Move Your Body Regularly: Exercise is not just about maintaining a fit physique; it’s an essential aspect of holistic wellness. Find an activity you love (mine is running) and make it a regular part of your routine. Whether it’s yoga to center your mind, a jog to clear your thoughts, or dancing to release stress, moving your body releases endorphins and boosts your mood. Remember, wellness isn’t just about intense workouts; it’s about finding joy in movement. I grew up very active, my parents put me in dance at a very young age, and I did gymnastics on the side. I always loved playing sports for fun and I’ve been running ever since I was little, but once I let go of dance and gymnastics, I joined a gym to keep up with a healthy lifestyle but I had the mentality that I need to workout 7 days a week, which couldn’t be further from the truth. After many years of trial and error, finding what workouts work best for me and what I feel my best after. I am proud of the balance that i have found with working out. I push myself with marathon training recently but I allow for enough rest to ensure recovery.
  3. Prioritize Sleep and Rest: I am going to preface this… still working on perfecting this, getting 3-5 hours of sleep and being in meetings for 12 straight hours is my talent but the way in which your body rest during sleep no sauna/ cold plunge or caffeine could fix. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to forget the importance of a good night’s sleep. Make rest a priority in your life. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to recharge your body and mind. Establish a wind-down time, relaxing bedtime routine, create a sleep-conducive environment, and limit screen time before bedtime, there is a feature on iPhones now where you can schedule wind-down times which I have found 100% helpful. Adequate rest promotes mental clarity, emotional stability, and overall well-being. Taking supplements before you hit the bed is something that truly elevates my sleep. I love taking magnesium glycinate sleep calm, and next on my list are the sleep gummies from Kourtney Kardashian company called Lemme.
  4. Cultivate Mindfulness and Mental Wellbeing: Wellness isn’t just about physical health; it’s about nurturing your mind and spirit too. Embrace mindfulness practices like meditation, deep breathing, or journaling to reduce stress and enhance your mental clarity. Engage in activities that bring you joy and foster positive emotions. Surround yourself with supportive, uplifting individuals who share your wellness journey. Remember, a healthy mind is the foundation of a healthy life. I journal every night, weather it’s about my day or reflecting on how I want my future to look like (manifestation if you call it) I genuinely feel so much better after a good session of getting my emotions out, or setting goals for myself or manifesting my future. Finding what works for you and habit-stacking it on what you normally do right now is something that would build true mindfulness and a more fulfilling days.
  5. Embrace a Digital Detox by Embracing Nature: In this age dominated by technology, there’s a profound need to pause, recalibrate, and rekindle our bond with the natural world. The great outdoors holds the key to uplifting your spirits, alleviating stress, and nurturing a profound sense of serenity and interconnectedness. Venture on a leisurely walk, explore the meandering trails of a forest, or bask in the soothing embrace of your backyard while you inhale the crisp, invigorating air. For me, mornings are a time of delightful observation alongside my faithful companion, Bentley. We relish the simple pleasure of people-watching, savoring the nuances of the early hours. Post my invigorating workout session, a steaming cup of coffee becomes my ritual of indulgence. Bentley and I claim our spots on the front steps, where we allow ourselves to be immersed in the surroundings, breathing deeply of the revitalizing air that precedes the inevitable flood of emails. It’s a tranquil moment of connection before the digital symphony takes center stage.
