Today, on October 10, we revel in the joyous aftermath of Canadian Thanksgiving. The beauty of celebrating in October, with leaves turning into vibrant hues, marks the beginning of a fun and refreshing season.
Yesterday was truly a holiday dream come true. While I’ll save the details of these day-to-day dreamy days for another post, the anticipation for the marathon, just four weeks away, fills me with excitement and a hint of nerves. Testing the limits of my body through running promises to be an exhilarating adventure.
Hosting duties and kitchen stress were nowhere to be found. Instead, my family and I opted for a reservation at the exquisite “Ce Soir” in downtown Oakville, a French gem that I wholeheartedly recommend (their French onion soup is divine!). The ambiance was nothing short of perfection. Seeing my family radiate happiness and tranquility warmed my heart. My grandparents returned from their European vacation, looking rejuvenated and bronzed, while my sister’s delight in exploring new eateries was palpable. (That’s her favorite pastime, after all!)
On the holiday scale, yesterday’s Thanksgiving gets a solid 8.5/10 from me. The slight deduction is solely due to my personal preference – I’m not a stuffing enthusiast, and my plate seemed to have more stuffing than turkey.
As we bask in the post-Thanksgiving glow, I find myself drawn to moments of reflection, deep gratitude, and a heart brimming with appreciation. Thanksgiving has a magical way of inviting us to pause and count our blessings.
In the midst of it all, I am reminded of the abundance of riches in my life. A well-structured schedule that grants me balance and purpose, a thriving career that I am blessed to work in full-time, and the privilege of witnessing its growth alongside incredible people who believe in me – these are sources of immense pride and joy.
My body, a resilient vessel that embraces daily challenges and pushes its boundaries, deserves not just acknowledgment but reverence. My boyfriend, a source of unwavering support and love, is a treasured presence that lights up my days. And then, there are my friends and family, the pillars of strength and the bearers of unending laughter and love.
Thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it’s a season of introspection, a gentle nudge to appreciate the everyday blessings that often go unnoticed. It encourages us to cherish the quirks that make each celebration uniquely special and to express our gratitude for the stories and moments that shape our lives.
So, as we transition into this season of reflection and appreciation, I encourage you all to take a moment to celebrate the richness of your own lives. Cherish your schedules, relish your careers, honor your bodies, adore your loved ones, and bask in the warmth of gratitude.
