Lately, I’ve been feeling stuck—creatively drained, constantly tired, and operating in fight-or-flight mode without even realizing it. My boyfriend and I had a conversation about it, and he pointed out something I hadn’t fully acknowledged: I was always pushing, never pausing. And it hit me—maybe the answer wasn’t to do more, but to step back.
So, I did something I usually resist: I took a weekend off. No Wellrobe Weekly, no pressure to create, no guilt about resting. Just space to breathe.
And almost immediately, something shifted. My creativity came back. My energy felt restored. The inspiration I had been chasing found me when I finally allowed myself to slow down.
But Here’s the Truth: Burnout Doesn’t Lead to Breakthroughs
For the longest time, I believed that if I just worked harder, I’d push through the exhaustion and eventually hit a breakthrough. But that’s not how it works. Burnout doesn’t create results—it drains your ability to produce them.
Not long after my reset, I listened to a Jay Shetty podcast with Marianna Hewitt, and her words confirmed exactly what I had just experienced. She talked about how taking time off helps her reset and show up better in every aspect of her life. She doesn’t wait until she’s burned out—she prioritizes rest as part of her success.
That hit me hard. I had been running on empty, expecting myself to perform at my best without ever refueling. How could I expect to pour into my work, relationships, or creativity when my own cup was empty?
What Fills Your Cup?
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle, thinking rest is something you have to “earn.” But the truth is, you can’t be your best if you’re running on fumes. The most successful people don’t just work hard—they know when to step back and recharge.
So, ask yourself: What actually fills your cup? What makes you feel alive again when you’re drained? Because if you don’t make time for those things, burnout will make the choice for you.
This is your reminder to take the break—before you actually need it. Because when you do, you’ll come back stronger, clearer, and ready to take on everything you’re working toward.
